FSX 2020 NetPlay Network Setup
Go to your modem and record its IP Address and Username.
The password should be your wireless internet password.
This information will be needed later.
Close all programs and software so only the desktop is visible.
Use the start menu to search for ‘cmd’ and open a new command prompt.
Use the command ‘ipconfig’ and record your IPv4 IP address for the PC.
This information will be needed later.
Use the start menu and search for ‘wf.msc’ to open the Windows Firewall Options
Once ‘Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security’ has opened, select ‘Inbound Rules’
Create a new rule by using the shortcut on the right hand side.
For ‘Rule Type’ choose ‘Port’
Then press ‘Next’
For ‘Protocol and Ports’ specify ‘TCP’ protocol with local ports ‘80’ & ‘443’
Then press ‘Next’
For ‘Action’ select ‘Allow the connection’
Then press ‘Next’
For ‘Profile’ select all the options: Domain, Private, Public.
Then press ‘Next’
You can give a name and description for the newly created rule.
Once complete, press ‘Finish’ to have it added to the list of Inbound Rules
Close all programs and software so only the desktop is visible.
Open a web browser and connect to the modem by entering its IP address into the search bar. Use the appropriate credentials to login.
In this example, They were first under the ‘Basic’ Category’ then the ‘Port Forwarding’ option from the tabs.
Click the ‘Add Rule’ button near the bottom to create a New Rule for Port Forwarding.
Set up the new rule.
For NetPlay, the ports 25000, 25001 & 25002 are used with UDP protocol.
The Local IP address should be the address of the PC trying to connect to NetPlay.
Apply and save the new rule and check that it has been added to the list.
