How to Apply and Maintain Club Markers for Foresight Sports Devices

How to Apply and Maintain Club Markers for Foresight Sports Devices

Certain Foresight Sports launch monitors use reflective club markers (stickers) to capture detailed club data during a shot. This article explains how to apply them correctly, which devices support them, what data is captured, and when to replace them.

Which Devices Use Club Markers

GCQuad, QuadMAX, Falcon, and GCHawk

  • Support both 1-dot and 4-dot marker modes.

  • Require the Club Analysis Add-On to capture advanced club data.

  • Data captured with 4 markers: Clubhead Speed, Smash Factor, Club Path, Attack Angle, Loft/Lie, Face Angle, Impact Location, Closure Rate.

  • Data captured with 1 marker: Clubhead Speed, Smash Factor, Attack Angle, Club Path.

GC3, Launch Pro (LP), GC3s, LPi

  • Limited to 1-dot mode only.

  • Require a Gold/Club Subscription to enable club tracking.

  • Data captured with 1 marker: Clubhead Speed, Smash Factor, Attack Angle, Loft/Lie.

Without the Club Analysis Add-On or Subscription, devices can still use 1-dot mode, which provides basic clubhead speed and smash factor.

Applying Club Markers

Club markers may be provided in either a dispenser or sticker sheet pack. Both options work the same way once applied to the clubface.

  1. Clean the clubface with an alcohol pad or water.

  2. Remove or dispense a marker (depending on whether you’re using a dispenser or sticker pack).

  3. Apply the marker adhesive-side down at the recommended location on the clubface.

  4. Press firmly, then peel away the backing tab if using dispenser markers.

Marker Placement

4-Dot Mode (GCQuad, QuadMAX, Falcon, GCHawk)

  • Drivers / Woods: Two markers along the vertical center line (toe and heel), plus two markers on the toe (top and bottom edges of the strike zone).

  • Irons: Two markers between the 6th and 7th score lines (toe and heel), plus two markers on the toe (top and bottom edges of the strike zone).

1-Dot Mode (All devices)

  • Place the marker near the horizontal center of the clubface.

  • For drivers/fairways: place high on the face, close to horizontal center.

  • For irons/putters: place in the middle of the strike zone, aligned to horizontal center.

For step-by-step visual examples of where to apply markers on woods and irons, see our Fiducial Application Guide.

Best Practices

  • Ensure markers are flat with no edges peeling.

  • Replace markers if worn, dirty, or after multiple shots.

  • Keep the dispenser or sheet stored in a dry, clean place.

  • Always use official Foresight Sports club markers—third-party reflective dots may not track properly.

Marker Maintenance & When to Replace

Club markers are consumables and will degrade over time or through use. Follow these tips to ensure accurate data capture:

  • Worn Sheen or Reflectivity Loss: Replace markers when they appear dull, scratched, or lose reflective quality.

  • Physical Damage or Incomplete Markers: Cracked, peeling, or broken markers should be replaced immediately.

  • Impact on Data Quality: A single faulty marker can disrupt data. For reliable results, especially in 4-dot mode, replace all four markers regularly rather than just one.

FAQ

Do I need 4 markers every time?
Only if you want full advanced data such as face angle, impact location, and closure rate. Basic data can be tracked with a single marker.

Can GC3 or Launch Pro use 4-dot mode?
No. These devices only support 1-dot mode.

What happens if I don’t have the Club Add-On or Subscription?
You’ll still get basic club speed and smash factor in 1-dot mode, but no advanced club metrics.

Where can I buy replacements?
Club sticker packs and dispensers can be purchased through Foresight Sports Canada
