Your GC2 Device will not connect to the computer or within the software as expected.
To Begin Troubleshooting the USB for a GC2 device follow the steps below:
- Note: These troubleshooting steps assume the device is functioning correctly and will capture data on its own apart from the software.
- Confirm the USB connection is securely connected to the PC and GC2 ports.
- Confirm the device appears as NGLM interface device within the Devices and Printers window (found in Windows control panel). If this is not located be sure to install the driver package.
- Confirm the USB port is not damaged or loose. If it seems loose or damaged in any way be sure to keep that in mind as you continue to troubleshoot. If the steps below do not resolve the issue the device should be returned for repairs.
- Confirm the device has no errors (may appear as a yellow exclamation point over the device icon) on the USB connection from Device Manager or Devices and Printers window.
1. If errors are present be sure to note specifically which error is present. This can be done by following the steps below.
- From within the devices and printers window, right click on the NGLM device, and select properties.
- Within the properties window, select the Hardware tab at the top of the window and then select the Properties button.
- This will bring up another window with more detailed information. On the first tab (General), there will be a Device status portion. This will indicate if an error occurs.
- If an "error 43 device descriptor failed" message is present this indicates a failed connection and may be related to the EMI chip within the GC2 device. As a last option the device should be returned for diagnosis and repairs. This will require you to contact Technical Support for return instructions.
2. Uninstall and then re-install the GC2 USB driver package. This should be done using the latest USB driver package, compatible with firmware 4.0.0.12 and above. Be sure to confirm the firmware version on the GC2 Device Menu.
- From within the devices and printers window, right-click on the NGLM device, and select properties.
- Within the properties window, select the Hardware tab at the top of the window and then select the Properties button.
- A new window will appear, select the "Change settings" button at the bottom of the window.
- Now the device window will move and you should select the driver tab.
- First attempt to update by selecting the "Update Driver..." button. This will allow you to browse for a driver, do this and locate the driver for the device from the following location (there may be different versions depending on which software was first used):
- If FSX: C:\Program Files (x86)\Foresight Sports Experience Components
- If FR1: C:\Program Files (x86)\Foresight Sports\SimulationSoftware\GC2 Driver
- If no driver is found please go to the following website and download the latest driver installation: http://www.foresightsports.com/support/drivers-downloads
- Follow the driver installation to update.
If the problem is non-resolvable and you believe the issue to not be related to the GC2 device itself be sure to record the system specs in detail (make, model, and manufacture or each component if possible). From this point please SUBMIT A SUPPORT REQUEST or log in to your Foresight Sports Support Portal and submit a ticket within your account.
