Club Markers: When To Replace A Club Marker or Fiducial

Club Markers: When To Replace A Club Marker or Fiducial

Often times customer will see data missing from GCQuad, GCHawk, or GC3 / Launh Pro and believe something is wrong with the device. This may also show as data missing in FSX 2020 (FSX PLAY or FSX PRO) and the user will feel that the software is not displaying club data. In reality, however, the club marker on the device is the cause of the issue.

The markers can last for a varied length of time. This is dependent upon the following factors:

  1. Worn Sheen: Over time and use the sheen and reflectivity will diminish, causing the marker to need to be replaced.
  2. Wear & Tear: if the marker is damaged or broken, making it an incomplete marker this will cause the marker to need to be replaced.

Wear on sheen can occur through use and be impacted by how often the marker comes in contact with turf/ground and how rough or damaging the turf or ground will be to the marker. Clubs that tend to be dug into the turf or ground should expect to replace these markers more often. Damage to the marker will occur through use as it comes in contact with other surfaces. The club marker is considered a consumable item and the user should expect to replace periodically based upon the factors mentioned above and also through use.

Important: If one marker should become worn and unusable it will impact the data collected. This will impact the devices ability to capture full four dot data. It is recommended to replace all four to assure that all markers are performing as expected.
